According to John Summerly of Prevent Disease, many of us have not truly maximized lemons as an overall solution for health, beauty, and household needs. Such diversity for the use of lemons makes it a necessity in the home, ideally stored in one's kitchen regularly, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

What are the various uses of lemons, aside from those that we know of, like adding a citrus flavor to food and beverages, or soothing sore throat? Summerly sums them up, writing that lemons...

Remove Smell from Garbage

Lemons can be used to deodorize garbage. To do this, simply save leftover orange or lemon peels and place them under the garbage bag. Lemons will neutralize the stinky odor of the garbage.

Assist Mental & Physical Health and Resistance

Drinking lemon water can help boost your mood and relieve feelings of stress and even depression. Succumbing to stress can deplete Vitamin C levels, and lemon water is loaded with this type of vitamin. A lack of vitamin C in the system can make a person more susceptible to viruses, bacteria, and eventually, sickness. Lemon water is easy to prepare- simply slice lemons and put them in a pitcher of cold water. For constipation, put them in warm water to stimulate bowel movements.

Can Lighten Dark Spots on the Skin

Lemon juice is also a good beauty remedy. It helps lighten age spots and dark scars on the skin, as effective as creams sold commercially. Simply dab lemon juice directly on your skin, let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse the skin with water. This is a safer and more natural way to deal with beauty problems.

Are Great for Cleaning Vegetables

The se of lemons extend to food handling- for cleaning vegetables and fruits. A squeeze of one tablespoon of lemon juice in a spray bottle can disinfect vegetables and fruits and add a good smell.
