Coconut oil is listed as a frontrunner in health and wellness, offering a variety of benefits. The good news is, the wonders of coconut oil is not limited to the kitchen pantry, but also extends to skincare and grooming as well.

With its cleansing and antibacterial properties, coconut oil can be applied topically without harming the skin. It is gentle and moisturizing, and is loaded with nutrients that will keep skin supple and healthy.

Here are ways to use coconut oil for grooming and beauty regimens:

Coconut Oil as Cleanser

Using harsh facial washes and cleanser can dry out the skin, especially if you wash more than twice a day. The skin itself has oils that protect its sensitive layers, and chemicals from most facial cleansers can strip out these oils and cause an overproduction of oil. This is why many have acne and skin problems that could otherwise be prevented with proper cleansing. Coconut oil as a cleanser gently removes impurities without stripping away these oils. Even oily skin can benefit from coconut oil because it will not lead to an overproduction of excess oils but instead "pull" out the unnecessary oils and dirt.

Coconut Oil as a Moisturizer

Coconut oil can be used as is as a moisturizer or infused in lotions and creams. It is not only gentle but is antibacterial and antifungal, allowing it to zap out infections and skin problems. To moisturize with coconut oil, heat up the oil by rubbing it in your palms then applying it on clean skin.

Coconut Oil as a Shaving Cream Alternative

Shaving creams and foams have been found to contain a number of harsh ingredients. Thankfully, coconut oil has equally the same effectiveness as these conventional shaving agents. Coconut oil will not leave you in a rash and can be used even on the most sensitive skin. The result is a smooth, clean, and close shave, minus the strong, artificial smell and the harmful toxins.
