Development details for the much-talked about "Spider-Man" reboot has been circling online including release date, official title, which director will take on the helm, and the top contenders for the lead role, Peter Parker. A span of more than two movies has also been mentioned for the web-slinger, with only one significant detail confirmed so far.
First and foremost is the release date of the reboot. In a report by Collider, "Spider-Man" reboot is among the 12 films Marvel is releasing between 2015 and 2019 --- all of which have specified and hopefully solid release dates to date. "Spider-Man" reboot release date is set on July 28, 2017, the same year as "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" in May and "Thor: Ragnarok" November, according to early reports.
"Spider-Man" reboot has also been rumored to take on a new the working title, "Spider-Man: The New Avenger," according to numerous reports found online. According to Screenrant, fans will first see the newest web-slinger in the coming "Captain America 3: Civil War" before he takes on his own story come "Spider-Man" reboot release date. This has again, yet to be confirmed by the studio and/or the director - once one is confirmed to take on the helm.
The director of the "Spider-Man" reboot was initially thought to be "Sinister Six" writer /director Drew Goddard, but things have changed. In a report by Deadline, five directors have been revealed to be shortlisted to take on the helm for the rumored "Spider-Man: The New Avenger." The list includes Jonathan Levine, Ted Melfi, Jason Moore, John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, and Jared Hess.
The same report also revealed that both Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are cooking up stories for the newest "Spider-Man" to span "over three to four movies," as the arc is confirmed to begin way before Peter Parker gets bitten by the spider.
Early reports revealed Kevin Feige talking about exploring more about Peter Parker's life before the red-and-blue suit. He said, "The most obvious being the 'young, doesn't quite fit in' kid before his powers, and then the fella that puts on a mask and swings around and fights bad guys and doesn't shut up, which is something we want to play with and we're excited about."
Who is taking on Peter Parker in the newest "Spider-Man" reboot? To date, nothing yet has been confirmed but Asa Butterfield and Tom Holland are rumored to be frontrunners to take on Peter Parker before he becomes the one and only web-slinger.
