Ian Somerhalder reportedly denied rumors that he has used ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev to boost "The Vampire Diaries" ratings.

Yibada reported that the "TVD" actor has debunked allegations that he just used ex-girlfriend and former co-star Nina Dobrev to help increase The CW show's viewership. Ian Somerhalder previously revealed that there have been minor differences on set without the actress.

"I personally think everyone thought it was going to be a huge departure after Elena (Nina Dobrev) was gone," Ian Somerhalder told Variety. "And I was one of those people."

"I thought it was going to be a huge departure for the typical formula of our show. By virtue of the fact that it wasn't a huge leap for mankind, as far as changing it up, there were some differences that sort of mixed up the formula."

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Nina Dobrev will not work with Ian Somerhalder again even if it means the cancellation of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7. Apparently, this also comes as a relief to the actor.

However, this could mean the end for the beloved teen series. It was previously reported that the popular romantic CW drama is seriously suffering from less viewership.

Recently, the network announced that "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will be moved from its usual slot every Thursday to Friday. This is the first time that the series has been rescheduled since its premiere.

In an interview with E! News, Ian Somerhalder reassured "TVD" fans that everything will be fine. "All I can say about that is that they were great characters separate, they were great characters together, and they remain great characters separated," he said.

"I'm thinking that this is the evolution of the show. Obviously she is in his heart and he is going to have a very tough time understanding how to go on, but that's what drama's for."
